Ok I'm going friggen nuts here. The topics in the forum are useless to someone that only just started playing with linux servers. And if one more person says "there's a guide in the AA manual here 'http://blabla' I'm gonna explode. The only guides in the manual i could find were for server version 2.7 or below. I want to run version 2.8.5. Now I've downloaded about 10 gigs of different server source files found in the forums, all that come with half hearted, unexplained guides to set them up!. "just get windows files and copy linux binarys" - How smartass? "Download version 2.8.4, use this guide to install 'http://sucky_ass_aa_guide.htm'' which gets to like the third line and tells you to go to a folder that DOESN"T EXIST in ther server files.
Currently when I type "./server-bin LAN Bridge_SE.aao -nohomedir ini=server.ini log=aalog.log"
"ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/NX/lib/libesddsp.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/NX/lib/libesd.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
./server-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libgmp.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
scroll down and follow those download links given and youll be fine, this is the best atm what can be offered, sorry cannot help you out any better with packages.. and the problem with libraries is u dont have proper ones on your linux system, if youre using redhad based, try yum install those packages what error says..
yum install libgmp.so.3 and it propably whines about similar package with number of 5 and 6 before youre able to run your server
