No, only 2.5 version (there are good official servers "Do Not And Friends"), newer you can partly run under wine.

My opinion is: Ether offer a SERVER and CLIENT or do not offer a SERVER. AFAIK AAOs Linux server is dated 2.6, so I'm not complaining about the lack of a Client. It sucks but at least they are not leaching.

I can still run my FreeBSD or PC-BSD system, program in peace, and use a Windows box for some R&R. All thats missing is a real shooting range ;-)

If AAOps would be available for PS3 at least, I could get myself one of those, and then dual-boot either into YDL for working or PS3 mode for playing. It really sucks having to stick with the old 2.5 AAOps just cause they suddenly decided to be able to reduce the number of customers they have. But I'm not going to introduce a security risk just to play a single game.

Heck, even BF1942 and such works nicely natively under Linux!

Note to myself: When companies decide that you need to publish your creditcard-number, all your passwords and your entire social life on the net and they are not trying to be called "Church", then something is definetively wrong...
Oh - even if they call themselves a Church or the producer of the worlds most often used OS, there is something wrong with that.

2.5.0 Linux client can be downloaded from many sites, e.g. http://aaotracker.com/

> Is there any problem while playing if you dont have the latest version?
Yes, there is. Frowning
There are less 2.5.0 servers than 2.8.1. Anyhow, you can still play on 2.5.0 servers, as lots of us.

The Army decided to drop Linux funding long before 2.5. Only reason you guys have 2.5 is because one of the [Dev]s was taking up his own free time to manually port the client, for free, mind you. It soon became obvious to him that he couldn't do it anymore.

Bottom line: The Army wants this game to reach as many people as possible while maintaining a minimum cost. The amount of money/time they would need to put in to port to Unix makes it not worth it just to reach a small percentage of people (People using Unix systems that want to play AA). It's just not worth it to them. If they actually made any money off the game, they would probably reconsider, but they don't make money off it, so they have to reduce costs while still trying to reach as many people as possible. The amount of people who play AA on a Unix system is a very small portion of the user base. Until the demand for AA Unix suddenly soars, don't expect a Unix version.
