Patching v2.x to v2.x

1) Download the America's Army Deploy Client (http://www.americasarmy.com/downloads/)
2) Install America's Army Deploy Client.
3) Open the America's Army Deploy Client, it should prompt you to download the patch but if it doesn't then go to the tab "America's Army" and it should come up with a list of downloads, choose the "patch" download.
4) Once done downloading in the America's Army Deploy Client it should have an install button. Click on install and it will install the patch.
You are all done

5) Go to the Shortcut you use to Start the game and Right Click on it choose Properties

6) Edit lines Target and Start in to read the path of the new name of the folder.

    Example Target line: "C:\Program Files\America's Army v2.x\System\ArmyOps.exe"
    Example Start in line: "C:\Program Files\America's Army v2.x\System"

7) Install v2.x
Note#1 When you receive a message stating previous version installed and do you want to uninstall choose "Yes" this will not uninstall v2.x if you have done the instructions above correctly.
Note#2 You will now have no uninstaller for the previous version. When you are ready to remove it from your system. Go to Program Files and Delete the America's Army v#.# folder. There will be no registry keys for this installation that needs to be removed.

You are all done

Missing or Invalid registry/ini entry" from v2.x

This is caused by a registry issue upon the patch not finding the installation path.

Vista users try this first:
Right click the patch and choose "Run as Administrator", if this doesn't solve it continue with the steps below.

Go to Start...Run...Type:Notepad <hitenter>
Copy the Code below to Notepads text area
Choose File and Save AS
Name it repairaa.reg (do not leave off the .reg extenstion)
Save the file to your desktop or somewhere easy to find
Right Click on the file repairaa.reg and Choose Merge
Choose Yes to add to registry
Choose OK to Confirm
Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army\Operations]
"InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"Version"="2.x.0"

Note#1 Make sure this line: "InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\" points to the exact location of your installation of version 2.x

Note#2 Make sure this line: "Version"="2.x.0" points to the exact prior version (not the patch version)
Example: I'm on v2.8.0 and I'm patching to v2.8.1. The line would read "Version"="2.8.0"

Now Try to Patch

Note#3 If you still get this error, then the error is still in the registry, however it falls under windows installation components and you will need to to reinstall the prior version and then patch it. You would not be able to fix it manually.

Ready-Made repairaa.reg file

READ THIS CAREFULLY
Right click the file you just downloaded and choose "Edit".

Step#1 Make sure this line : "InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\" to point to the exact location of your installation of version 2.x

Note#2 Make sure this line: "Version"="2.x.0" points to the exact prior version (not the patch version)
Example: I'm on v2.8.0 and I'm patching to v2.8.1. The line would read "Version"="2.8.0"

Now that you have confirmed for the version and location information is correct, save and close the file. Then double click or right click and choose merge.

AADC system variables

The Deploy Client has it's own set of keys to track the operation and package status.

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client]
"InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army Deploy Client\\"
"DCDSMasterHost"="deploy.dcds.americasarmy.com"
"CleanShutdown"=dword:00000001
"AA2AuthMasterPort"=dword:00004e4e
"DCDSImagePort"=dword:0000218c
"DCDSMasterPort"=dword:00002184
"AA2AuthMasterHost"="66.117.38.135"
"Version"="1.2.4.2"

    Do not modify the port and IP settings of the deploy client, these are provided for reference only. Failure to follow this advice may result in an inoperative Deploy Client.

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\Options\Download]
"AllowUploads"=dword:00000001
"UsePeerToPeer"=dword:00000001
"DownloadCachePath"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\America's Army Deploy Client"
"MaxDownloadSpeedValue"=dword:00000000
"MaxUploadSpeedValue"=dword:00000007

    Allow Upload: share with the community
    Use Peer to Peer: You don't need to use the peer to peer functionality, but the extremely slow download should convince you otherwise. Ports 8580-8590 are required
    DownloadCachePath is the storage location for the compressed .fmap files, you may change this if space is a problem on your drive. The \\ exist in the exported view, in regedit, only a single \ exists.
    MaxDownloadSpeedValue: 0 is unlimited, why would you want anything else
    MaxUploadSpeedValue: 7 is BCD for 20kbps

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\Options\View]
"ShowWarningDialogs"=dword:00000001

Keep track of the installed software, the descriptors all seem to be obvious.
Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\PackageStatus\36]
"Paused"=dword:00000000
"Installed"=dword:00000001
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"DesktopLocation"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\<Username>\\Desktop"

"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"DesktopLocation"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\<Username>\\Desktop"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\PackageStatus\38]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"DesktopLocation"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\<Username>\\Desktop"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\PackageStatus\39]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"DesktopLocation"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\<Username>\\Desktop"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\PackageStatus\40]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"DesktopLocation"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\<Username>\\Desktop"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\PackageStatus\55]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
"InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\America's Army\\"
"DesktopLocation"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\<Username>\\Desktop"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\US Army\America's Army Deploy Client\PackageStatus\63]
