Letters and words can't break my bones, but they can sure kill a sig.
Look at mine, sure it's easily stolen. But you can recognize the original because it's clean.

Here's an update. That picture isn't finished. It looked desaturated and needs some contrast. Then I might add more lighting or something to it.

This is the fix for saturation. Do you think it helps with the contrast at all? I think it does slightly. Not enough though?

to help it with the "looking like my sig part", try and make it seem like hes coming out of the fog.
i did it with my by distorting his left side with filters. i did it over the entire body and pic, but erased it on the far right side of him and slowly lowered the opacity of my eraser so it wouldnt erase as much as i went to the left

I need to learn how to use filters :l

I think I get what you're saying though.

Would using a gradient work as well? Instead of using the eraser tool?

I like to make a new layer, then make a black gradient which covers the area I want to fade. Then I'll merge the layer down, and use a 'Grim Color Reaper' tool that removes a color of your choosing from the layer. I'll make it remove the color of the gradient I use (black for simplicity), and in effect, it creates an alpha channel gradient.

You just have to make sure your image is set up in layers so you are only creating that alpha gradient over the layer you want, and not the background or anything else.

mmm i have nvr tried that before, so i wouldnt know

filters is quite easy to use tbh, you put them over your chosen layer. you can choose your opacity for em, change it to say multiply for an extreme dark, or lighten if you want to kinda be phased into the background

dicker around with em, the best way to figure out what filters you like to use is to just experiment. its what i did. i tend to use the blur and distort filters alot as well as the lighting filter

Oh wait, those are what filters are? Oh then I've used them tons of times before.

Except PaintDotNet doesn't offer as many it would seem.
PDN has:
Multiply
Additive
Color Burn
Color Dodge
Reflective
Glow
Overlay

Okay well I wont list them all lol but there isnt a blur or distort.

However I never thought to make a filter fade out. In fact, Idk if that's possible with PDN

Those are frame/layer properties. To do the whole picture, well, everything would have to be flattened first.

I do have several different blur and distort type options. Be it fractals or pixelation that you'd see when they blur people's faces and stuff on COPS. I'm sure if you looked around, there are addons for that, though I think that already came with it.

There's a fadeout type of thing that can be used, whether to transition from one color to the other, or from one color to transparency. I don't really use that trick often, but I have used it to make Firefox Personas. Now I forget how it goes. Just toy with it. It won't break.

Testing new sigs...

[EDIT]: I didn't exactly use the transparency gradient effect. There was already a sample I had that came with it in a certain color, but I could do it over. The background is essentially already transparent, so I threw in some layers on top of it. For the most part it could work for other forums with different background colors.
